Eligibility

Persons aged 9 years and over (on the day of the swim) who have adequately trained for the event are eligible to enter 1k Novices Challenge.

Online and Postal Entries for the 2008 1k Novices Challenge have now closed.

Enter at the beach

Entries will be taken in person at Manly Life Saving Club, South Steyne ( see map) on Saturday 2, February 2008 between 10am and 4pm- Cash only. You may use the "1k Entry form download" if you intend to do this or there will be forms available at the beach.

Race Day entries will also be taken at Manly Life Saving Club, between 7:00am and 8:30am on the day of the event. See the "Race Day entries" section of the On Race Day page for full details

No Race Day entries will be accepted after 8.30am

Risk Warning

This is a dangerous recreational activity enter at your own personal risk. Please take a moment to read the Risk Warning on our Terms and Conditions page or on your entry form.

Escorts and Swimming Aids

To ensure fair competition no individual escort boats, surf skis or board paddlers will be allowed to accompany swimmers. No wetsuits or seal suits will be allowed, similarly flotation devices, flippers or fins are prohibited except in the Back of the Pack category of this event.

Cancellation

The Race Committee reserves the right to cancel the Race due to rough or dangerous conditions. In the event of cancellation, there will be NO REFUND of entry fee and the event will NOT be re-run. Proceeds from the day go to Manly LSC to assist in education of surf lifesaving members or in the purchase of lifesaving equipement. A decision will be made ASAP on race day and broadcast on ABC and commercial radio and via this website.
